Godric’s eerie blue eyes light on me the second that I step out from backstage. I study him, taking in his fair hair and his razor-sharp cheekbones. He wouldn’t be bad looking except there is a creepy ominousness about his manner that is quite off-putting.

There are a half dozen suited men between us. But he somehow makes it seem as though we are the only ones in the room.

He smirks and beckons me with a lazy gesture. I smooth my hands down my hair, force a smile to my lips, and walk over to him. He doesn’t speak at first.

No. He just grabs me forcefully by the hips, dips me back so I am off-balance, and then seals his lips over mine. My hands scrabble for purchase at his shoulders. My eyes go wide.

I’m sure that he is about to drop me.

But at the last moment, he doesn’t. He reels me back up and grins down at me.

“Hello, Manon. We are going to have fun tonight, don’t you think?”

I blink a couple of times. “Yes, Godric.”

“Mm.” His eyes travel down my body, which is only protected by a delicate sheer pink lace bodysuit. “What do you think… should I invite people to watch?”

My heart stutters. My mouth opens. The idea of everyone being able to watch my hypothetical deflowering is horrifying.

But Godric answers his own question with a laugh. “I think I will.”

He turns and opens an arm wide. “Everyone is welcome to come watch me and Manon upstairs. The door will be open,” he calls.

Several men glance at me, biting their lips and looking curious. Godric cackles and pulls me close, kissing my ear.

“I won’t take your virginity tonight. Not in front of all of them. But you’ll perform for all of us, won’t you?”

I pull back, startled. “The rules only state that I have to be yours, Godric.”

He slides his hand down to my ass, grabbing it hard. “For five million dollars, you’ll be mine for as long as I want you. I’m a busy man. As such, I have a schedule that you will work around. I want to set you up in a penthouse with a stipend. I want to know that you’re ready for me, no matter when, no matter what I want from you.”

I open my mouth to argue but he is already walking away, grabbing my hand and pulling me along for the ride. It occurs to me just now that he doesn’t see me as a person.

No, I’m merely a fantasy to him.

But the part with the penthouse and stipend? That doesn’t sound half bad…

If Godric didn’t repulse me on a base level, that is.

He tows me up a flight of stairs and through a communal area, where men in suits sit on low leather couches and naked waitresses serve them drinks. I try not to blush as I feel the men gaze at me, their interest piqued.

Godric doesn’t help matters any. He calls out to the men. “We’re headed into the Sapphire Room, if anyone wants to watch her dance for me.
